So, a group of us went to see Matthew Good “and his band” last night. I’ve seen about 3 other Matthew Good concerts and I’ve always left happy. But I was moderately disapointed with this effort. I suppose my biggest complaint is that the song selection emphasized his last 2 albums more than I would have liked. While these albums have a few plesant songs, I would have liked more of the lively/popular older songs. Most of the time, the audience wasn’t even moving. This is remarkably unusual for a Matthew Good concert. The building/floor should have been shaking with the energy. Honestly, I can’t name most of the set list. The new songs all sound the same to me. From what I recognized, he played Giant, Alert Status Red, A Single Explosion, Weapon, Hello Time Bomb, Load Me Up, Black Helicopter, I’m A Window, and Everything Is Automatic. Assuming it was similar to his previous night’s concert (in Toronto – I think) the list might have included Champions of Nothing, Odette, The Devil’s In Your Details, Born Losers, Put Out Your Lights, Blue Skies Over Badlands, 99% of Us is Failure, She’s In It For The Money and True Love Will Find You In The End.

Anyway, I missed the “old” concert favorites like Generation X-Wing

and 21st Century Living

At least he played Hello Time Bomb

and Everything is Automatic

Some new songs were tolerable, like Single Spark Explosion and Black Helicopter

and some rocked like Alert Status Red
